MOTORCYCLE PARTS & ACCESSORIES

MOTORCYCLE PARTS - We have two old Harleys so you know that we need parts! Seems like nearly every week, here comes the UPS person bringing something to us from Bike Bandit. They have a helpful tool called the OEM Parts Wizard. You can put your OEM Part number in the box and check to see if Bike Bandit has your part available! I thought it was pretty cool. They offer OEM parts, aftermarket parts, motorcycle accessories, apparel, and much more. My husband has made our bikes look awesome with all these new parts.
Check out the OEM Parts Wizard below:
Just click on the box to your right, (the OEM Parts Wizard) and it will bring you to the page where you can put in your OEM Parts number to check and see if your part is available, it's that easy!! If you have some great experiences to share about a merchant, let us know here. People are always looking for great motorcycle parts and accessories at affordable prices. Bike Bandit will treat you fair. We have had a couple of items come that did not work out for our bike, and they took care of it immediately. Very nice and fair people to work with!

HELMET LAWS VARY BY STATE

HELMET LAWS VARY BY STATE - Wearing a motorcycle for some is a personal decision. Others follow the law to the letter and want to know the laws in their particular state. I have outlined the basics here for your information. Please note that this is information from research and I am not a lawyer or legal consultant and cannot be held accountable for errors or misinformation. With the legal mumbo jumbo out of the way, please note that a biker will make his or her own choice about whether to wear no helmet, wear a novelty helmet, or wear a DOT approved helmet. Helmet laws anger some people very much, as they feel they should not be told whether to wear a helmet. The statistics say that one will have a higher percentage of chance of surviving a motorcycle crash if you are wearing your helmet. Those against wearing a helmet say that it is NOT safer wearing a helmet if you are involved in a motorcycle crash.

Personally, my husband and I have always worn a DOT (Department of Transportation) approved helmet. My newphew was in a motorcycle accident and he was saved by wearing his DOT helmet and I know of some aquaintances of ours that were also saved by wearing their helmet. This is our decision and does not make us right or wrong, it's just our decision.

I do believe however, that some decisions should not be law made, they should be individual made. If someone is made aware of the risks and chooses to make the decision not to wear a helmet, it should be their right, however, I do not believe that the tax payers should be held liable for someones decision not to wear a helmet. Again that is my personal belief and I welcome those with other beliefs and opinions to post that information here.

I also believe that a child riding on your motorcycle with you, or an ATV or a dirt bike, should ALWAYS wear a DOT APPROVED HELMET for children. When they are old enough to make that decision they can, however if they are under 18 years old, I feel they should be required to wear a helmet. Again, that is my opinion.

I would love to hear your opinions and experiences and knowledge about the subject of helmet laws, tell us here. Thanks for listening!

BIKER LEATHER, THE SAFE WAY TO RIDE YOUR MOTORCYCLE

Biker Leather - The SAFE way to ride your motorcycle..... I welcome all bikers, no matter what wonderful type or model of motorcycle you ride to join this blog. You and I are part of a special subculture phenomenon known as BIKERS! In the "olden days" bikers were thought of as trash, hoodlums, lazy, good for nothing bums who did not work for a living. Today, we know that there are bad apples in every barrel, however, in this case, the majority of bikers are hard working people who love to ride and who take pride in their bike and themselves. Bikers come from all walks of life, from the average joe who is just making it paycheck to paycheck to the extremely wealthy.

There are many celebrities who love to ride and show off their bikes. Motorcyclists are all over the world. This is definitely an international love affair. If you know the cost of a new motorcycle these days, you would realize that bikers have to make a fairly decent living to afford to buy one and to maintain it, insure it, and customize and accessorize it. Male and female bikers also need protection. This comes in the form of DOT, (Department of Transportation) approved motorcycle helmets, leather jackets, leather chaps, leather vests, leather saddlebags, and many other available motorcycle accessories.

Todays biker not only wears his or her motorcycle leathers for safety, they wear it to make a fashion statement and bond with other bikers. A leather jacket that is solid, good quality and perhaps has a motorcycle club patch or patches on it, shows pride in themselves. A leather jacket is worn not only for the good looks but for safety. If for instance, a biker drops his bike, and his or her body skids down the road a ways, the tough leather jacket should take most or all of the damage rather than the riders skin.

Let us know about how your leather jacket or leather chaps have saved your skin. Tell us your stories, your adventures, your motorcycle club affiliations, etc. This blog is an excellent chance for you to make new friends with similar interests. Bikers unite!
